The 2409-12T is a 2.3 ounce direct drive outrunner brushless motor designed for fast park flyers.
If your looking for terrific performance for planes designed for speed, the 2409-12T is the motor to consider. This motor is nearly identical in weight to the 350 brushed/geared motors that come with many kits, but provides about TWICE the thrust! And the plastic stick mount that comes with the motor makes it a drop in fit for many models.
We consider this the ultimate GWS Warbird motor. We like speed and power on a Warbird - most flyers do! Well, the 2409-12T gives you a big dose of each. Put this motor on a GWS Mustang or GWS Corsair and you'll have unlimited vertical with LOTS of speed. If you love doing low level high speed passes with warbirds, the 2409-12T is the perfect motor for it.
Our favorite combination with this motor is a GWS 9050 prop, EZ Flite 35A ESC, and an 11.1v 1500 30C Lipo battery. This combination will fly a GWS Warbird straight up with good speed!
By the way, the 2409-12T works great for upgrading the Parkzone Stryker to brushless power. Use the TP 7x6 prop for some really great performance. And some flyers have turned their Multiplex Easy Star into a 'shooting star' with this same combination!
Another great application for the 2409-12T is on the GWS C-47. Use the Master Airscrew 6x4 3 blade prop with this motor for scale looks and about 32 ounces of combined thrust. Our small 3mm prop adapter works nice with this prop.
A firewall mount and plastic stick mount are included, along with mounting screws. Please look closely at the picture below to see how and where to attach to the plastic mount. The motor sits up higher on the plastic mount than most people think. For instructions on how to attach the motor to the plastic mount, there is a very well done guide on the Wattflyer forums. Click here to see it, then hit the 'back' button on your browser to return to the store.
Always check the tightness of all motor set screws when installing motors. The set screws require a 1.5mm Allen wrench.
Propeller data for 3-cell Lipo batteries (11.1 volt):
GWS and TP props fit the 3mm shaft on this motor perfectly - no adapter needed. APC and Master Airscrew props require a prop adapter or prop saver for 3mm shafts.
The APC 9x4.5E prop produces about 31 ounces of thrust at 23 amps with a pitch speed of 41 mph.
The GWS EP9050 prop produces about 32 ounces of thrust at 23 amps with a pitch speed of 46 mph. Great match for this motor if you're looking for maximum performance.
The TP 8x4E prop produces about 28 ounces of thrust at 20 amps with a pitch speed of 43 mph.
The APC 8x4E prop produces about 28 ounces of thrust at 20 amps with a pitch speed of 43 mph.
The GWS EP8040 prop produces 27 ounces of thrust at 18 amps with a pitch speed of 46 mph. This is the prop to use if you want to stay on the conservative side!
The TP 8x6E prop produces about 25 ounces of thrust 23 amps with a pitch speed of 55 mph.
The APC 8x6E prop produces about 25 ounces of thrust 23 amps with a pitch speed of 55 mph.
The GWS HD8060 prop produces 24 ounces of thrust at 21 amps with a pitch speed of 58 mph.
The Master Airscrew 8x6 3-blade prop produces about 27 ounces of thrust 23 amps with a pitch speed of 54 mph. Great for scale looks and high speed.
The Master Airscrew 7x4 3-blade prop produces about 20 ounces of thrust at 16 amps with a pitch speed of 47 mph.
The APC 7x5E prop produces about 22 ounces of thrust at 19 amps with a pitch speed of 60 mph.
The TP 7x6E prop produces about 22 ounces of thrust at 19 amps with a pitch speed of 60 mph. Great for use on the Multiplex Easy Star, Parkzone Stryker, and Zagi.
The APC 6x5.5E prop produces about 14 ounces of thrust at 12.5 amps with a pitch speed of 54 mph.
The Master Airscrew 6x4 3-blade prop produces about 16 ounces of thrust at 12 amps with a pitch speed of 54 mph. This works very well for the GWS C-47.
Propeller data for 2-cell Lipo batteries (7.4 volt):
The TP 11x4.7SF prop produces about 22 ounces of thrust at 19.5 amps with a pitch speed of 23 mph.
The GWS EP1170 prop produces about 21 ounces of thrust at 19.5 amps with a pitch speed of 35 mph.
The APC 10x4.7SF prop produces about 21 ounces of thrust at 17.5 amps with a pitch speed of 28 mph.
The GWS EP1060 prop produces about 21 ounces of thrust at 17 amps with a pitch speed of 38 mph.
The GWS HD1080 prop produces about 17 ounces of thrust at 20 amps with a pitch speed of 40 mph
