The Firepower 450 Sport (2836-11) is a 2.6 oz, 1100KV, 450 class direct drive outrunner brushless motor capable of producing 37 oz of thrust from a 3-cell Lipo battery. This is a 450 class, 220 watt motor that weighs less than a speed 400 brushed/geared motor, but provides about twice the thrust! It is roughly equivalent to a .10 size glow engine.
The Firepower 450 Sport is especially well suited for medium to large parkflyers that require the use of a 9 or 10 inch prop. This motor would be a good choice for planes like the Multiplex Gemini, E-flite Taylorcraft 450, Seagull EP Extra 300, GWS Formosa II, E-flite Mini Pulse, Filton Extra 260 mini, E-flite P-47 and many, many others.
The GWS EP1060 prop matches up well with this motor, providing an excellent combination of speed and thrust.
Good battery choices for the Firepower 450 Sport include the EZ Flite 11.1v 1300 25C (8 and 9 inch props), 11.1v 1500 25C, 11.1v 1800 25C and 11.1v 2200 25C Lipos.
We recommend using the Power Up 32A ESC with the Firepower 450 Sport motor.
If you need a brushless motor that is the same size and weight, but uses larger propellers, please check out the 2836-09.
The Firepower 450 Sport comes with 3.5mm male connectors installed, and female connectors and shrink tube are included.
MOUNTING OPTIONS: The Firepower 450 Sport can be mounted in front of a firewall using the 2800 series 'X' mount and the 2800 series rotor end prop adapter, which are included with the motor. You can also mount it behind a firewall, and a 4mm prop adapter can be purchased to mount a prop on the motor shaft. The GWS Plastic Outrunner Mount can be purchased to mount the Firepower 450 Sport on a 10mm stick.
Propeller test data for the Firepower 450 Sport using 3-cell Lipo batteries:
It's a good idea to balance all propellers with a Propeller Balancer before using them on this motor.
Rotating propellers are dangerous. Please stay clear of prop and wear eye protection.
TP 10 x 5: 36 thrust @ 20 amps with a pitch speed of 41 mph. Avoid constant wide open throttle.
APC 10 x 5E: 36 oz thrust @ 20 amps with a pitch speed of 41 mph. Avoid constant wide open throttle.
GWS EP 1060: 37 oz thrust @ 19.5 amps with a pitch speed of 50 mph. Excellent match for this motor, but be sure to have good airflow around the motor if you run a lot of wide open throttle.
APC 9 x 4.5E: 32 oz thrust @ 16 amps with a pitch speed of 41 mph.
GWS EP 9050: 32 oz thrust @ 15.5 amps with a pitch speed of 47 mph.
TP 9 x 6: 32 oz thrust @ 17.5 amps with a pitch speed of 52 mph.
GWS HD 9075: 28 oz thrust @ 21 amps with a pitch speed of 47 mph. Avoid constant wide open throttle.
GWS EP 8040: 21 oz thrust @ 9.5 amps with a pitch speed of 42 mph.
GWS HD 8060: 23 oz thrust @ 14 amps with a pitch speed of 57 mph.
TP 8 x 6: 24 oz thrust @ 17 amps with a pitch speed of 54 mph.
The above data is a result of our own testing using a fully charged 3-cell 2250mah 20C (45 amp) Lipo battery. Thrust and amp draw may be less with the use of batteries rated at lower amp output, and slightly more using batteries rated for higher amp output.
