The Emax GT2215/12 is a 2.4 ounce, 400/450 class, 900KV, 200 watt outrunner brushless motor. It's a good choice for sport planes weighing 18 to 35 ounces, and 3D models weighing 15 to 25 ounces.
Good prop choices for the GT2215/12 include the APC 10x4.7SF for best all around performance, the APC 11x3.8SF for maximum 3D performance, and the APC 10x7E for higher speed sport models.
We suggest using a 3 cell Lipo battery that is rated for about a 30 amp continuous discharge (or more), such as an 11.1v 1000 30C to 11.1v 2200 30C.
We recommend using a 20A to 35A Electronic Speed Control (ESC) with this motor.
The GT2215/12 comes with 3.5mm male connectors installed, and female connectors are included for your ESC.
MOUNTING OPTIONS: The GT2215/12 can be mounted in front of a firewall using the included X mount and rotor end prop adapter. It can also be mounted behind a firewall using the included 4mm prop adapter to mount a prop on the motor shaft. The GWS Plastic Outrunner Mount can be purchased to mount the GT2215/12 on a 10mm stick.
Propeller data for the GT2215/12 using a 3-cell Lipo battery: It's a good idea to balance all propellers with a Propeller Balancer before using them on this motor. Rotating propellers are dangerous. Please stay clear of prop and wear eye protection.
APC 11 x 3.8SF: 34 oz thrust at 15 amps
APC 11 x 4.7: 34 oz thrust at 16 amps
APC 11 x 5.5E: 31 oz thrust at 14 amps
APC 10 x 4.7SF: 31 oz thrust at 14 amps
APC 10 x 5E: 26 oz thrust at 12 amps
GWS EP1060: 27 ounces of thrust at 12 amps
APC 10 x 7E: 28 oz thrust at 14 amps
TP 9 x 6: 23 oz thrust at 11 amps
Please be aware that the battery used can make a tremendous amount of difference in the performance of brushless motors. The above data was obtained using batteries in good condition that were fully charged. Thrust and amp draw may be less with the use of batteries rated at lower amp output, and slightly more using batteries rated for higher amp output. Other factors, such as ESC timing and variations in actual motor KV can affect the performance of brushless motors as well. We recommend the use of a Watt Meter to test the current draw of your particular power system, especially if you plan to use a prop that pushes the motor near it's maximum amp rating.
