The EMAX Budget 50 amp Electronic Speed Control is a low cost, good quality speed control that works with most brushless motors. It comes pre-set for use with 2 to 5 cell Lipo batteries, and the built-in 5 volt, 3 amp Battery Elimination Circuit (BEC) will power up to 4 sub-micro servos when using a 3 cell Lipo battery. There are no connectors included with this ESC, so you may want to visit our Connectors category to choose the connectors you wish to use.
Several programming options can be set with your transmitter or a program card, but no programming is needed for most applications. Here is a list of the programming options:
1. Motor brake on or off. Comes pre-set with the brake turned off, so the propeller will spin freely when the plane is gliding (transmitter throttle off).
2. Selection of battery type: Lipo or NiMh/NiCD. Comes pre-set for use with Lipo batteries, and it auto-detects the number of Lipo cells.
3. Low voltage protection: low (2.6v per cell), medium (2.85v per cell) and high (3.1v per cell). Comes pre-set for medium Lipo battery protection.
4. Type of motor cut-off: sudden or gradual. Comes pre-set for gradual motor shutdown.
5. Start-up mode: fast, soft or very soft. Comes pre-set for fast motor startup.
6. Throttle curve: curve1, curve2 and curve3. Comes pre-set for curve1
7. Motor timing: low, medium or high. Comes pre-set for medium timing (outrunner motors with 6 poles or more)
8. Motor rotation: normal or reverse Comes pre-set for normal rotation
9. Governer Mode: Off, low or high. Comes pre-set with governer off. The program card is needed to turn on governer mode.
If you choose to purchase the Program Card for EMAX Electronic Speed Controls, you will find it very easy to use. You simply attach the receiver plug of ESC to the card, connect a battery to the ESC, then make your programming selections with a couple of buttons on the program card.
