The Emax GT2820/06 is a 4.9 ounce, 985KV, 570 watt outrunner brushless motor. It's a good choice for sport planes weighing 35 to 65 ounces, and 3D models weighing 30 to 50 ounces.
The Emax GT2820/06 is designed for use with 3 and 4 cell Lipo batteries. When using a 3 cell Lipo, the APC 11x5.5E is a good all around prop for this motor, and we suggest that you give it a try for both sport and 3D flying. The APC 11x7E is a good choice for models designed for higher speeds.
We suggest using a 3 cell Lipo battery that is rated for about a 60 amp continuous discharge (or more), such as an 11.1v 2200 30C to 11.1v 4200 35C. Good 4 cell Lipo choices would be 14.8v 2200 35C to 14.8v 3300 35C.
We recommend using a 50A to 70A Electronic Speed Control (ESC) with this motor.
The GT2820/06 comes with 4mm male connectors installed, and female connectors are included for your ESC.
MOUNTING OPTIONS: The GT2820/06 can be mounted in front of a firewall using the included X mount and rotor end prop adapter. It can also be mounted behind a firewall, using the included 5mm prop adapter to mount a prop on the motor shaft.
Propeller data for the GT2820/06 using a 3-cell Lipo battery: It's a good idea to balance all propellers with a Propeller Balancer before using them on this motor. Rotating propellers are dangerous. Please stay clear of prop and wear eye protection.
APC 12 x 6E: 70 oz thrust at 40 amps (avoid constant wide open throttle)
APC 11 x 5.5E: 58 oz thrust at 32 amps (excellent all around prop for this motor)
APC 11 x 7E: 62 oz thrust at 36 amps
APC 10 x 5E: 48 oz thrust at 23 amps
Propeller data for the GT2820/06 using a 4-cell Lipo battery:
APC 10 x 5E: 77 oz thrust at 36 amps (570 watts - avoid constant wide open throttle)
APC 9 x 6E: 57 oz thrust at 33 amps
Please be aware that the battery used can make a tremendous amount of difference in the performance of brushless motors. The above data was obtained using batteries in good condition that were fully charged. Thrust and amp draw may be less with the use of batteries rated at lower amp output, and slightly more using batteries rated for higher amp output. Other factors, such as ESC timing and variations in actual motor KV can affect the performance of brushless motors as well. We recommend the use of a Watt Meter to test the current draw of your particular power system, especially if you plan to use a prop that pushes the motor near it's maximum amp rating.
