The Emax GT2812/10 is a 3.4 ounce, 480 class, 970KV, 330 watt outrunner brushless motor. It's a good choice for sport planes weighing 25 to 50 ounces, and 3D models weighing 20 to 35 ounces.
The Emax GT2812/10 is designed for use with 2 and 3 cell Lipo batteries. When using a 3 cell Lipo, the APC 11x5.5E is a good all around prop for this motor, and we suggest that you give it a try for both sport and 3D flying. If you're after a little higher speed, the APC 10x7E is a good choice.
We suggest using a 3 cell Lipo battery that is rated for about a 50 amp continuous discharge (or more), such as an 11.1v 1800 30C to 11.1v 3300 35C.
We recommend using a 35A to 50A Electronic Speed Control (ESC) with this motor.
The GT2812/10 comes with 4mm male connectors installed, and female connectors are included for your ESC.
MOUNTING OPTIONS: The GT2812/10 can be mounted in front of a firewall using the included X mount and rotor end prop adapter. It can also be mounted behind a firewall, using the included 5mm prop adapter to mount a prop on the motor shaft.
Propeller data for the GT2812/10 using a 3-cell Lipo battery: It's a good idea to balance all propellers with a Propeller Balancer before using them on this motor. Rotating propellers are dangerous. Please stay clear of prop and wear eye protection.
APC 11 x 5.5E: 47 oz thrust at 24 amps. Excellent prop for this motor
APC 11 x 7E: 46 oz thrust at 27 amps. Avoid constant wide open throttle.
APC 10 x 5E: 40 oz thrust at 19 amps.
APC 10 x 7E: 40 oz thrust at 23 amps
APC 9 x 4.5E: 32 oz thrust at 15 amps
APC 9 x 6E: 32 oz thrust at 18 amps
APC 9 x 7.5E: 33 oz thrust at 22 amps
Please be aware that the battery used can make a tremendous amount of difference in the performance of brushless motors. The above data was obtained using batteries in good condition that were fully charged. Thrust and amp draw may be less with the use of batteries rated at lower amp output, and slightly more using batteries rated for higher amp output. Other factors, such as ESC timing and variations in actual motor KV can affect the performance of brushless motors as well. We recommend the use of a Watt Meter to test the current draw of your particular power system, especially if you plan to use a prop that pushes the motor near it's maximum amp rating.
