The Emax BL2220/07 is a 2.6 ounce, 450 class, 1200KV, 280 watt outrunner brushless motor. It's a good choice for sport planes weighing 20 to 48 ounces.
The APC 9x4.5E is a good all around prop for this motor. The APC 10x5E prop can be used for maximum thrust, and the APC 9x6E is a good choice for high speed models.
We suggest using a 3 cell Lipo battery that is rated for about a 35 amp continuous discharge (or more), such as an 11.1v 1300 30C to 11.1v 2200 35C.
We recommend using a 30A to 40A Electronic Speed Control (ESC) with this motor.
The BL2220/07 comes with 3.5mm male connectors installed, and female connectors are included for your ESC.
MOUNTING OPTIONS: The BL2220/07 can be mounted in front of a firewall using the included X mount, and a prop adapter is included for mounting a prop. If you need a similar size motor that mounts behind a firewall, please consider the Emax GT2218/11.
The GWS Plastic Outrunner Mount can be purchased to mount the BL2220/07 on a 10mm stick.
Propeller data for the BL2220/07 using a 3-cell Lipo battery: It's a good idea to balance all propellers with a Propeller Balancer before using them on this motor. Rotating propellers are dangerous. Please stay clear of prop and wear eye protection.
APC 10 x 5E: 45 oz thrust at 24 amps
GWS 1060: 44 oz thrust at 25 amps
APC 9 x 4.5E: 37 oz thrust at 19 amps (excellent all around prop for this motor)
GWS 9050: 38 oz thrust at 19 amps
APC 9 x 6E: 38 oz thrust at 23 amps
GWS 8040: 26 oz thrust at 12 amps
APC 8x4E: 28 oz thrust at 15 amps
APC 8x6E: 28 oz thrust at 20 amps
GWS HD8060: 28 oz thrust at 18 amps
Please be aware that the battery used can make a tremendous amount of difference in the performance of brushless motors. The above data was obtained using batteries in good condition that were fully charged. Thrust and amp draw may be less with the use of batteries rated at lower amp output, and slightly more using batteries rated for higher amp output. Other factors, such as ESC timing and variations in actual motor KV can affect the performance of brushless motors as well. We recommend the use of a Watt Meter to test the current draw of your particular power system, especially if you plan to use a prop that pushes the motor near it's maximum amp rating.
